Author Topic: Weird Computer Issue, please help  (Read 986 times)

My computer started doing something weird yesterday, I booted it up like normal, it showed the boot screen (the one that shows the motherboard brand, it's from the motherboard right? I might be wrong) And then it goes on the Starting Windows screen, and a few seconds later on the same screen it resets and goes to the boot screen again and it repeats the same process, I have no idea what is causing this.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

The what?
There's a little silvery battery in your mobo that looks exactly like a watch battery. Take it out and put it back in.

I think you have a boot loop
Wich is a pain.

Oh so that's the name, thanks I'll try to research for a solution.

Isn't that dangerous to harm the computer?

The CMOS is a battery chip that contains startup information. It can be removed or replaced on your motherboard. Iirc it also resets the time on your computer.

Um, his problem is past BIOS, BOOT, and POST. This is Windows related. Hit F8 (I think) and try to get into safemode.

Oops, I meant safe mode not BIOS.

thats called a bootloop, your system files are probably damaged causing the boot to reset. you mostly likely need to reinstall windows, or could try booting into safe mode.

Attempt boot into safemode. If that fails, disable automatic restart. If that fails, log your boot and use an install USB disk to access your files and copy over the logs.

Put Windows install disk in and try running a startup repair

If that fails, you're forgeted lol

Once I get into Safe Mode, what should I do? Run some program or something?

I don't think they know what to do or they would have just told you, not give half an answer

Forget safe mode, just
Put Windows install disk in and try running a startup repair
