Author Topic: Question about steam and cancelling a trade.  (Read 1358 times)

So apparently if you cancel a trade on steam you will get a 7 day trade ban.

Does this apply to both parties?

So if I'm trading and someone cancels our trade do I get a trade ban too?

Does anyone know if it's a ban or a cooldown or is it a community ban?

since when is this a thing?

If I remember, this is an effect of Steam Escrow, and its basically a cooldown on both parties to prevent "further scams" from possibly happening

the items IN the trade, from both parties will be placed in escrow/item hold delay for three days where you and the other party cannot access until both accept the trade via authenticator. If its canceled, a cooldown will be in effect

it wont be a ban

Why should I get effected if they cancel? That's crap.

Are you sure both parties get a cooldown?

I tried searching the google for the help page for Item Holds/Steam Escrow, but for some reason cant find
maybe could look in the discussions because im sure there was an uproar when this was announced

I think both parties, makes sense that "the scammer" gets a cooldown and the "scammed" gets one too to prevent being scammed further

Not really as I'll explain below.

Party A sets up a troll trade he doesn't intend to go through with Party B

Party A and Party B both accepts the trade.

Party A cancels the trade for no reason.

Both parties get banned,

This is a flawed system.

since when is this a thing?

Because kids were crying they lost their virtual trading card.

So now in addition to confirming emails you have a 72 hour wait period and within those 72 hours if you decide to cancel a trade you will get a 7 day trade cooldown.

I'm still uncertain if both parties get a cooldown.
