Author Topic: I got a job :D  (Read 1222 times)

I made about $1000 a month over the summer working at McDonald's but the hours were unholy for a teenager.

Now I'm down to about $400

EDIT: This year I'll be making $11/hour just to put sandwiches together.

Jesus forget you earn the same as my parents combined.
Cost of living there must be crazy cheap then.

Back when I had just turned 16, I started working my first professional job in my actual desired career field at the time in Broadcast Media.  Starting doing live streaming for high school sporting events and etc for about 2 years with one company, drove around the state of MN was about 1k miles or so a month, gas reimbursed, $10 an hour with sometimes 11-12 hour days with drive time as well, it was a great job for my first real job in high school.  Eventually I moved companies due to external circumstances and went to another that did pretty much the same thing but now I did independent contracting (essentially you are your own business and file your own taxes etc.) for X amount per event (I won't disclose how much but I could make a lot in one week alone).

Did that for another 2 years till I moved into college and that took more time that I couldn't stream at nights or whatnot, which sucks because I was making around $2k a month as a high school student and slowly into college.  I then moved into a job at Wal-Mart of all places for a year and a half, now I left them back in September and work for Best Buy making great money at store level but doing actual IT work.

Put your mind to it, you can literally achieve anything you want to do lol, job qualifications aren't always followed to a T by many companies, however take note of the requirements and see what experience they want and see if you can relate things you have done even in your free time to it and maybe get a better paying job doing something more enjoyable.

Getting a job at Mc donalds next year
Pays 8$ an hour.

Pay €10 here >:D
But the work is very hard and I have never seen a student who could keep up and not quit withing 6 months

That's not too bad, 7.12 euros is like 7.75 dollars
That was my hourly wage as a lifeguard so neato

i applied for a paid iternship in IT. it's at the local military fort and it'll be full time paid (~$3000 in total) in the summer and part time unpaid during the school year. i hope i'll get it, it would really help with college.

i am jobless
Yeh but you're only 15.
But iirc the year you turn 16 you can start working.
Atleast thats how it works over here.

Nice, I need a job. My injury stops me is the issue. I've considered being a greeter at Walmart, however

There's a very different set of labor laws for those under 16, it's just not feasible most of the time to have someone on board who can only work certain hours, but no more than 4 a day, and has a mandatory break every 2 hour (varies by state).

I make like 200$ a week working for landscaping company during summer.

stuff gets hot and dirty but hey for my age that's good money lol.

i have a job and i hate income tax
