You clearly don't understand in the least bit. That $200 investment could turn into a million, or it might not. $2 out of each paycheck isn't even bad, you're acting like you can buy a family a brand new house with that money.

Lets say I bought a ticket once a week for ten years with the 6% sales tax.
48 weeks in a year, times that by 10 for 480. In 10 years you can have 480 tries for $1017.6
It would take 10 years worth of weekly tickets to actually help. Why not just shoot for the million or the jackpot?
you haven't changed one bit  :cookieMonster:

Nice looking past that post to see I fixed my mistake..

4 * 12 = 48?
forget me, I forgot the extra days. Redoing math
$1102.4 for 10 years, still not much. Wouldn't really feed a home for that long unless you really stretched it.

Oh, that cost is implying you never won a single prize, not even a $2 free ticket prize.

Were there any powerball winners? I heard of a few million dollar winners (in my state alone)

mom bought 10 two dollar tickets last night, won absolutely nothing

Never said you would. It might take a bit until you finally get lucky. Just keep playing the same 5 numbers until they win.

no, but you can buy them a week's worth of food
also it's not an investment. it's gambling, in every possible way

i thought the numbers were generated when the ticket is printed out, at least that's what i saw when she went and bought the tickets

I heard you choose the numbers, I'll check that.

I'm talking about money spent on tickets stretched over 10 years to show how little impact it actually makes into your wallet. If it was my last $2 sure I'd buy bread but if I had a job I'd take $2 and put it on a ticket. It could end up paying off.
If you only get enough paycheck to pay for your family and not to feed another you may as well try to get a decent prize with $2 of the leftover cash.

you can choose the numbers, or you can buy a ticket with numbers picked for you

if you buy a $2 ticket every day, it'll only take you seven weeks to spend $100. and if you do that for ten years, that's $7,300
even if you only buy a ticket on weekdays on your way home from work it'll only take ten weeks to spend $100 on it, so, within one year, that'll be over $500
which isn't a ton of money, but considering the fact that you're not gonna win the lottery, it'd be much better spent on something useful

Everyday? I said once a week..

actually, you didn't really say anything. you edited all of that out of your post
despite that, I knew what you meant. I was talking about a different situation
but once a week is still $100 a year. and still much more well-spent on something useful

The lottery isn't daily, it's weekly. Why would you buy them daily?
Also my original post can still be found in a quote literally 2 post down from mine. Then a few more posts down shows my new math.
Lets say you got 2 tickets a month instead of once a week: $50.88 / year. Big whoop you're out of a tank of gas for a large truck. It's not like you blew it all at once.

Stop acting like you're breaking your wallet while playing the lottery

it's hilarious that you made the mistake in the first place.

okay lottery is over, time to go night night
