Author Topic: How do Canadians pronounce "about"?  (Read 2455 times)

I always wondered after watching the South Park movie.

Aboot or about?

It's more like aboat

I hear sorry like "sore E" more often

I go a-bout, but that may be a southern-most British Columbia thing.

Depends on what part of Canada they're from
I've heard a lot speak with a US accent in British Columbia

Lol we say it like "about"

what province are you in Jeet

Alberta
why do people think we talk dumb like this. I haven't heard this accent in forever. wat

I can't tell you how many times foreigners have told me they adore the Canadian accent so much more than an American accent, and then went on to tell me that my northeastern accent sounds Canadian

I'm convinced that the Canadian accent is actually just a thing made up by foreigners for whatever reason

This
it's so exaggerated too, especially in movies like south park. It makes me cringe so hard when I see it in a movie.

It's those damn newfies I tell you

Believe it or not, in Canada, we actually do say some things differently.
Like instead of calling the beanie hat "beanie", we call them toques

You won't notice this so called, "Canadian Accent" in Alberta since they have more of a "Western" or "American" accent. The father you move east in Canada the more you're going to hear the "Canadian Accent".
