Author Topic: Port Forwarding with windows vista.  (Read 1925 times)

Ok, ive used the search button but no one told me how to do it exactly, i know how to forward my ports on xp, then i switched to vista. I already have a port open, so i go to control panel/network and sharing center/manage network connections/wireless network connection/properties, and then i get to to a page where it should just say internet protocol, but instead theres two, one says Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and one that says, Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv4), the v6 one has different ip address settings, and the v4 has the one that the internet protocol on my old pc had. So, i thought id change v4 to how i did it with xp, but people can log on to my server, but they get disconnected a second later. I don't wan't to sound like a noob, but I just don't know where to look.

Its a reasonable question, I still have no idea how it works. But since my computer glitched my ports are always forward and now I don't have to worry.

So your trying to get a static IP?

im not shur but open the command promt and in it type ipconfig

note: you cant copy & paste in command prompt

damn no modify button
it should be next to ip addresse

Use v4, that's the one I used and it worked.

Or just go back to XP Pro, like I did. I'm glad I did.

ok ya im using v4, but whenever someone joins, they get disconnected in 10 seconds

They mite be server surfing, I do it all the time to see if friends are around.
