What I really wanna know is what the forget does he think a gaming console is gonna need with a DVDRW.

I mean not only are the games he's trying to get on this thing not going to fit on a DVD.

But why the hell does a gaming console need re-writable discs? Will it burn them itself? Or does he want to be able to put different games on the same reusable disc? WHY NOT JUST USE AN SD CARD?

Then you just don't hang around with many people who work with this stuff.
I work as a software developer and I can confirm it's an extremely common pronunciation, more common than spelling out the letters.
