Author Topic: Is a hotdog a sandwich?  (Read 2075 times)

Tell me please and don't ask why it's Lions of any team as I just found it on their FB page

if you flip it sideways it is

this is the kind of question which needs to be answered.

send an email to the whitehouse alongside a petition to change the official name of a hotdog to "sideways burger-dog"

Generally not, because it's only one piece of bread.
A sandwich is two slices of bread.

so what do you call it when you make a sandwich out of a roll but don't cut it all the way and leave the 'hinge' as it were

nah like you get a roll right, and you breadknife that stuff open so you can use it for sandwiching, you put your stuff in there and close it

it can be closed and still have some bread connecting it together

A hotdog is a snack food and requires a FRANKFURTER LIKE OBJECT to be on a BUN to count

Mine would make a big meal

The real question here is why you like the Facebook page of such a poor excuse for a football team.

Lazy.
But I suppose I wouldn't really call it a sandwich if it's in a roll. I just call it a roll.

At any rate, if you're cutting through it almost all the way, you're still trying for a sandwich.
A hot dog bun isn't always cut all the way through, and generally they are held differently, with the opening to the filling facing up. Whereas the 'openings' on a sandwich face horizontally when you eat it.
