dont buy a gaming headset, all three (asus strix dsp, turtlebeach wireless z300 and one other turtlebeach headset which was wired) which i have used in my life time either stuff themselves within 1 hour, took hours to even achieve a static sound or were extremely bulky.
never go with wireless headphones, they seem like a good idea but they're the loving worst thing to be made for video games. most of them have a automatic shut off system which turns the headphones off after 5 minutes without sound, which is hard wired into the sytem.
wired gaming headphones usually have some kind of extra extension cable or control box which you have to use for
muh immershuns, don't buy those loving piles of stuff as you will likely end up wanting to kill yourself during the setup process.
i purchased a £17 headset after spending £79 on a gaming headset which didn't function/only produced the freshest screams from the depths of hell and customer support refused to refund.
plugged the cheap headset in through the main cord, worked first time, no problems, didn't give me the ear plague, had a long cord and produced good quality sound without any odd buzzing every 5 minutes.
don't go so cheap though, had a pair of headphones (something by sony) that costed £5.99 from a tech shop, the sound was severely distorted and was extremely uncomfortable.
all i loving want from a set of headphones is for it to play sound reliably, forget surround sound, forget off gaming modes, just let me plug it in and use it.
using sennhiesers and they show no sign of wear yet after a year
sennhieser is the only brand of headphones which didn't stuff out on me or produced any problems, currently using the sennheiser hd 201, which are £17 right now.
still works after hours of use, wire is durable as forget.
no bullstuff extensions or control panels inside it either, it's a simple plug and use (why the forget cant gaming headsets do this).
