first off, these joke thread claims are still recent as ever. i've been complaining about them for over a month and they still haven't stopped, so no, I'm not late
I agree, the stuffposting is annoying as hell and needs to stop. I've already permanently banned about 5 of these starfishs making and condoning these stuff-tier threads from my server. I wish to thank Freek for letting me know he wants to be added to that list as well. Less stuffheads to worry about on my server (not like it'd matter to them, they've already clearly communicated they don't care what others think about their threads).
i really don't see why you need to ban them from your server. it's not like these people have any malicious intentions at all. they're simply harmless jokes that you can easily ignore (and I really don't know why you're adding me to that list because I barely have done jack stuff regarding this situation, and I've contributed quite a lot to this community) you're really overthinking this whole thing into being some criminal scheme to overrun all topics in the Gallery board, when realistically you can find maybe 2 or 3 joke threads made per week at most.
Joke threads are funny and I do personally enjoy some of them, but they ought to go in Off-topic. Most of the users who make and proliferate those joke threads are users from offtopic who in most cases contribute very little to the actual game. These joke threads drown out the gallery board just how the "count to x" and "1000 ways to get kicked out of walmart" type threads drown out legitimate discussion threads in Offtopic; That's part of the reason why they were banned from the board in the first place. The former is now a 100% bannable offense since Badspot's truthfully acknowledged it's outright garbage (no matter how funny people may think it is) and the latter has now had its own board specifically dedicated to it (Forum games) to alleviate the flooding-out of the Offtopic board for that very reason.
Here's the thing, these topics would not fit at all in Off Topic due to the fact that they're related to Blockland and more specifically everything else in the Gallery board. This is another thing I don't think you understand. These topics are NOT "drowning out" the board.
Here's the first 3 pages of Gallery with the potential "joke threads" (if you even want to consider some of them jokes) squared in red. Wow! I can't even find any worthwhile topics!! Stop whining and come to the realization that these topics aren't flooding the loving board. The "count to X" threads we're deemed bannable quite a long time ago, because they have no point to them at all. These however, can at least show off anything funny someone has made, then disappear like a week later. Also, I really like how you claim Off Topic was being flooded out with forum games. While I do agree with the change to move them to a separate board, you can also say that Off Topic was being flooded with news articles, personal stories, megathreads, and many other off topic subjects, hence the name of the board, "Off Topic". The thing is, there was no other place at the time to make forum games, so obviously they were going to be posted into Off Topic.
If you go to an art show or a museum and decide to stuff on the floor because you think it's funny, you deserve to get your ass kicked out the door. Go do that kind of stuff in a hotel for a german scat research shoot, not in a location where people go to see actual creative art and quality content.
I find it pretty funny that you're comparing the Gallery board to an art show or museum. The thing is, both of those are most of the time run by millionaires or artists themselves. Art is a completely different subject considering the fact that professional art is bought for real money ranging from nothing to millions. You probably already know this, but the point I'm proving is that comparing a professional museum or art show to the Gallery board is like comparing an elementary school to a high-class college. Gallery has no quality control and it shouldn't. It's not like extremely grotesque or vile content is being posted, they're just small jokes that will die over a short amount of time. I doubt Badspot really gives a stuff about these topics either. Do you think game creators really go after people that make innocent content of their game?
However, Badspot was right when he said "Sometimes a richard joke is more fun than a Shakespeare revival". Thing is, Shakespeare revivals happen in theaters, and richard jokes happen in stand-up comedy routines at nightclubs and bars. Likewise, there ought to be separate areas on the forum for legitimate quality Blockland builds and these joke threads. Both are fun, but they should have their own separate boards.
I really don't think another entire board is necessary. There are barely any of these topics in Gallery and I think it's fine to let them come and go, like a fart.
