Both are fun, but the joke threads are quickly forgotten and are ultimately fruitless, while the actual builds are things that could be remembered forever if people showed them the level of attention they're currently showing toward these "cool memes"
You are literally describing envy. You're envious that a joke is getting some attention.
By the way, Gallery gets comparatively little attention on the forums at any rate. Gallery garners but 4% of posts, and 5% of all topics on the forum. And the average topic has a low number of views.
Even the jokey topics don't get all that much attention compared to similar joke topics in off-topic.
It's not like a gallery topic is going to be picked up by some arts magazine/gallery, and elevate the creator into a bustling career.
And so what if a topic gets views. They're not a limited commodity. You can view more than one topic a day. Just because someone goes into the joke topics doesn't mean they then can't go into a regular topic.
If they don't visit your regular topic, they were never going to visit it.They didn't see the joke topic and go "Aha, that topic has completely satisfied my journey for intrigue and entertainment! I shall log out of the forums post-haste, for there is nothing else here that could possibly improve upon the joy I am experiencing!".
