tl;dr Phones that had to have a repaired iPhone 6's home button are now loving paperweights on iOS 9, and have to pay a ridiculous fee to repair it, then Apple comes out saying it's to 'protect user security' when there's literally no way that's possible, and it just happens in some cases

This is why I got an Android instead. forget Apple's stuffty support.

what if someone stole your iphone and they could simply exchange the fingerprint button and they could easily get in? think about that. not supporting apple, but why don't people think about that

its because there was a security issue where if you had a third party replace the touch id scanner on the home button they could replace it with a malicious one

not saying this was a good way to handle it, but it was a security issue

I don't see how they could make such a stupid decision unless their intentions are malicious. How could they have possibly not thought this through? There are already services available to disable your iPhone if it's lost or stolen. They don't have to baby their customers like this.
I'm glad I don't use iPhone anymore.

except completely bricking the phone makes no sense at all
just disable the loving touch sensor, it's not that hard
