Dogs for utility
Cats for cuddles

Dogs have and always will be the more competent companion.

If there is a house on fire the dog would be more likely to save you than a cat.

i demand a shazoo option on the poll.

dogs actually care about their owners

dogs actually care about their owners

I adopted a cat when it was a kitten, it had been rescued after it's mother died and was abandoned. When we first got him he was terrified of everything and hid under my parents bed for about a week and would only come out to eat and then go back. Every day I would get down there and just talk to him and eventually the little guy came out and started purring/headbutting me and stuff. That cat loved the stuff out of me, he used to wait by the window for me to get home every day, he was never bored of me, he was always affectionate, ect.

The difference is I payed attention to him, I fed him every day, I cleaned his litter box, I gave him attention. Most people get a cat and by the 2nd week they're already bored of it and cbf giving it attention beyond putting food in it's dish and shoveling it's crap bi-daily. If you actually give a stuff about your cat, chances are it's going to give a stuff about you too. As a matter of fact, cats get pretty loving depressed when they don't feel loved, and due to the stereotype this has a tenancy to exacerbate the issue.

Some cats instinctively know that they can get what they want by trying to act cute. They know that you'll feed them and all they have to do is lay there and let you pet them. Some cats are complete starfishs and it doesn't matter how much attention you give them because they know you'll feed them no matter how much of an starfish they are, they don't care.

That does not make a quality pet.

Well, I would be surprised if my 4kg cat was able to pull me out of my house.

Even a tiny dog is more capable of saving your life because they would wake you up by barking.

A cat would either run outside or hide.

If I'm knocked out though I'm forgeted either way.

cats for utility (keeping them outside only to eat mice)
dogs for comfort, cuddling, and sleeping

otherwise, forget cats

You're not aware or perceptive when sleeping? lol

I always wake up before someone even opens my door, let alone get near my door.
