For the record, the reason the wildlife refuge is being occupied is because some farmers by the name Hammond were arrested for committing arson on federal property. I haven't looked into it at all, but I'm assuming that that federal property was this piece of land and the arson was claimed to have been unintentional.

The hammonds apparently lit "controlled" fires few years ago during the wildfire season in an effort to protect their farm
