Author Topic: Auth checks cause server to lag (3000ms)  (Read 1759 times)

For the past week or so a server I administrate has been lagging intermediately. We've disabled add-ons related to the cause, to no prevail, however the console shows that auth checks occur for all players whenever the server lags. Is this even possible? How do I fix it?

is someone having trouble authenticating

being kicked for a failed auth check? no.

You must have a stuffty internet connection if you can't do the auth check for all of the players online at the same time.

How many players did you have?
What are you hosting on?

Post console log.

Wait, 300ms?! Highest i've seen is 999ms on a CODWAW match..... Wow, try telling  people to go here, and try it yourself, if this doesn't work, then try forwarding ports for BL. Also, try disable, or enabling the fast packets, or whatever its called.

Blockland authentication:  http://auth.blockland.us/

If that page loads, then idk.

He's using Blocknet which means he can't access the internet through SSH Client

Contact Pecon7 and see if the issue can be solved.

This is on a shared node and, as far as I can tell, occurs for none of the other clients on the node. I'm fairly convinced that the issue is caused by an add-on, considering your server also idles at 3GB of memory usage...

The best advice I can offer you is to try seriously stripping down your add-ons, and keep disabling more of them until the issue ceases. Maybe also post a console log from after you disabled hatmod.

Also to put aside any irrational theories regarding the quality of the connection, here is a ping test of the auth server from this node.

You sure about this? Blockland should have crashed before reaching 3gb.

Why would it crash? Blockland is large address aware.

Every time it reaches around 2.7gb, it crashes.

I don't know what to tell you then.
