Welcome to the forums! This specific forum is, to be frank, a level just above 4Chan (if you don't know what it is, don't ask). To get yourself started, because some places are going to be uncomfortable for new users like you (and me), avoid the Drama subforum, and lurk the forums to get to see what we have here.
Others tell you Drama subforum is toxic, but it is not if you don't post a new thread there, or say big things without really doing the research. I still recommend you initially go anywhere but Drama, lurking it at most, and then post a thing or two if it won't annoy everyone.
If you are into modifications, a good portion of the community is modders. Be it code or building or eventers, there's many who can make things or help others make things.
The main tips I'd like to give you, as new guy to new guy, are:
1 - Restrict yourself in Drama for now
2 - Get as little members as possible to hate you
3 - Get knowledge of what happens around and who the members are to relate to them better (unless most of the forum thinks that member has to evacuate), preferably silently.
4 - Ignore anyone who calls you an alternative account (it will pass, just a short storm)
