I don't think your race should outright prevent you from opining on something, but if you're claiming what it's like to be black in 2018 and you're a white guy, you actually don't have any experience to substantiate anything.

Like I know that race takes sort of a special place in society, but this is 100% common sense. If your car broke down and someone told you to replace the carburetor, despite having never driven a car or repaired one, would you actually believe the guy?

No white person has any experience of what the black-side of race relations are because they aren't black.

I'm not going to tell you guys that you're somehow banned from talking about race because you're white, but claiming stuff like 'race relations are the best they've ever been' is bullstuff if you've only looked at it from the perspective of someone who only benefits from that dynamic.

You do look pretty much exactly like an archetypical white dude, but I do know that you have blood quanta since you've mentioned it before. I also know that you go down on the rez a bunch to buy raffle tickets and pick up trashed computers, but you don't live there.

So here's what I'll say: you know nothing more about black race relations than the average black person knows about native race relations.

I don't care which party you vote for or whether you talk about race (black, white, native, etc). My only point here is that not being a black means that you haven't had any chance to actually experience a big part of the dynamic. If you're telling people whether it's great being black in America, you're speaking from a point of complete ignorance.

Follow up question: having Native blood, can you actually claim that Native-white race relations are the best they've ever been? Reservations suffer from some of the most abject, crippling poverty in America, and most white people don't even have those issues on their radar. Do you really think it's working out great for the tribes?

Alright, fair enough, they slumped during the last years of the Obama presidency. That's true on paper. But they also rose during 80% of his tenure and stayed high. Also that graph shows 2007 as having a dip, so that contradicts the claim that up until Obama, race relations were the best they've ever been.

Based on what? When I drive through the reservations in Arizona, there are shacks and entire communities with no electricity. People are morbidly obese at almost impossible rates because the food is cheap and unhealthy and accessible to the highly-impoverished. Education is terrible.

To me, this sounds like a dynamic where the Native communities are getting screwed over. I do want to hear your views on this, so tell me more.

Republicans are winning all around right now because they are running on "americans". A single group.

When was this 'again'? The discrmination prior to the Civil Rights Act is the obvious part, but only like 15 years after that, Nixon launched the War on Drugs and suddenly our prisons are filled with black drug offenders when white people do/deal the majority of drugs.
