Author Topic: School rules you've never understood the purpose or think serve no purpose  (Read 21879 times)

no personal electronic devices while school is in session
only before the second bell or after the final bell you can use it
you cannot go to the front of the school while school is in session because there's a parking lot there
seriously, who would be driving there at that time of day? spies?
all rules of basketball in PE are obsolete except for the half court rule which for some reason is punishable by earsplitting screams of fury
you cannot use your lockers between classes (?!?!?!?!)

Seriously America seems like a bad place to be educated in, I mean damn.

  • No hats, except on special "hat days".
  • No cell phones during the school day, unless the teacher lets you use it for the class.
There may be a few others that I can't remember.

why cant u guys wear hats?
i have my hood up rn and no one bothers, must be weird in the US.

my ex once had a whole fiasco with the principle where he couldn't wear his purple arm warmers in winter because apparently it's gang-related.

No facial piercings
For some, shoes are not allowed in classroom, slippers or socks only
wtf are they ur manager or something also about the no shoes are you in freaken japan or something?

and obviously its 8:30 am and im tired as forget
teachers that take themselves serious at 8:30 are pathetic oblivious messes imo

It's just proper manners. You shouldn't wear a hat indoors.
doobie a hat is part of an outfit just like ur shoes and jacket.
the only place where it is obliged to take them off is at a home. any public place like a school, putting those off is just weirddd.

sorry for the amount of quotes i just now opened this thread for the first time and im suffering a culture shock

there's a divider in the middle of the school, like a curtain

you go past it, you get detention

What why?

This really irks me. Everyone is complaining about facial piercings, hats, hoodies, coats etc etc. School isn't the freaking cinema or the pub or your friends house, it's a formal facility meant for education. A certain degree of social etiquette must be followed and a dresscode upheld. You constantly hear bitching about how the school doesn't prepeare you for the real world, well maybe you just won't accept it. Proper manners and being accustomed to dressing smart when you represent yourself is one of the most important things. Degrees won't mean jack if you can't represent what they stand for in your attitude and clothing.

What if you get knocked out/dragged in there?
-snip-
hats and hoodies I can understand you aren't allowed, coats, I can understand at winter, but piercings should be fine, you shouldn't be told to cover up, it's like telling someone with a tattoo to cover their tattoo up.

you ARE supposed to cover up tattoos in the real world lmao

you ARE supposed to cover up tattoos in the real world lmao
No? Who told you that?

No? Who told you that?
If you ever want work you need to conceal stuff like that.

unless you want to work in a vape shop or a tattoo parlor you need to cover up that kind of stuff
that's why people get tatoos that stop at their wrists, so their shirt can cover it up

What if these dumb rules exist so the school can make us feel smarter by showing us how dumb people can be?

You never mentioned anything about work, you just said in "the real world"
