and uhhhhhhhhhhh xalos can you cipher a space and a ~ individually again? they seem to be the same when ciphered, judging by the list you posted. which doesn't sound right

Because of a dumb mistake I made, '~' becomes ' ' if you encrypt and decrypt text.  I've fixed this, but the fix changes all ciphertexts, so I've decided to use the old version for this thread.

I'm all for not having to redo all the stuff you already did, but asking us to figure out a cipher is hard enough without us having to also account for a bug in your code

Well if everyone would rather we did it with V2, I'm perfectly willing to go back and replace all the ciphertexts.

at this point, there's been maybe a total of an hour or two spent on this, so starting over isn't that much trouble
but I'm afraid that if we have to deal with that bug we may never be able to figure it out. does your code even convert it back properly? at the very least it would erase any tildes

but I also don't think going back and replacing everything is the best way to do it. we still want a record of everything else (at least, I do). just start over from here, and only replace the stuff in the OP, adding a note to ignore the ciphered text on the first page

It does convert it back, but replaces all tildes with spaces in the process.
