Author Topic: American health care system.  (Read 1388 times)

When I was in Arizona, one of my sisters friends got hit in the face with a golf club and needed stitches. She would of had to pay $150 without insurance. Why is the system so crappy?

Having to pay to be treated.

Who else is going to pay?

Because we don't pay out the ass in taxes to be treated like in Canada

so if I stab you you have to pay money to not die

capitalism

In Canada, we get taxed little, then the government pays the hospital.

So you're saying you pay to be treated?

Through taxes, not upfront. This, IMO, is better than paying upfront.

Yes
Maybe your family might not pay a lot. But someone else is paying for you.

You end up paying more than if you lived in America and just payed for insurance..

EDIT: Source

The American healthcare system and other various social safety nets all operate on the, "forget you got mine," principle.

TBH $150 seems pretty cheap

so if I stab you you have to pay money to not die
Well in that case you'd be sued for medical costs
