I find ds1 a better experience than ds2
warning the final boss of the dlc is hard as balls

Play it, plus I prefer PC over console dark souls 1 because of dsfix

DS2's animations is a hell of a lot better. Also dual weapons are actually viable.

They killed poise in DS2 though. It's useless.

the ds1 animations feel like they have more weight behind them and stuff but DS2's animations were more crisp I suppose
hopefully ds3 gets the best of both worlds

the epitaphs in things betwixt tell you all of the controls and the emerald herald tells you where to go

also if you want a to see a bad port
The what in what tell me the controlls and who does?

you guys underestimate poise
poise is needed for hyperarmor frames for certain weapons such as some greatswords, ultra greatswords, and hammers

poise actually allows you to keep walking when hit from the side/back/etc (during hyperarmor)

poise is a value like HP in a sense that it allows you to keep walking when hit (during hyperarmor), and when your poise reaches 0, you get staggered and poise fully regenerates after.

I played the beta.

You can't two hand your left hand weapon by holding triangle anymore like you could in DS2. Also there is charge attacks now that require mana similar to Bloodborne.

There is also 4 vs 2 battles so ganking should be even worse.

I had full havel armor + poise rings. I had the highest amount of poise possible.

I still became staggered from a bare fist.

since u didnt read that reddit post + spreadsheet

tl;dr poise is useful if you use ultra greatswords, great hammers, great axes
poise is not useful in most cases (except a few exceptions) if u dont use them

iirc vanq with bare fists lets you shred poise like a motherforgeter

In DS1 poised worked in general. If you were or were not attacking.

In DS2 poise only worked for attacking.

yeah ive played both dark souls games, poise is pretty different, but also

There are many attacks that have a poise damage value and subtract from your current poise, but will normally always stagger you. The only time they will not stagger you is when you are within hyper armor frames, which I will go over later. The attacks with this property are all highlighted in red on the spreadsheet. Let’s have another example of how this can affect you. Once again, you have 55 poise and you opponent is 1 handing the Rapier. He hits you with a rolling attack, lowering your poise by 28 and staggering you, because rolling attacks always stagger. You are now left with 27 poise. He now hits you with a 1H R1 and it now also staggers you because the rolling attack both staggered you AND lowered your poise. If you’re wondering how long it would take to regenerate the 8 poise needed to be above 35, it would take 14.3 seconds.

It just doesn't feel right in DS2. A bare fist shouldn't stagger anyone in metal armor.

I've had plenty of battles where it just became whomever hit the most win. Like we both hit each other the same time, we both stagger, we hit each other again, we both stagger, etc.

the only reason i want to play ds1 is because it's apparently harder than ds2
idk what it is but the looks of ds1 are just off-putting for me
