Author Topic: The Key Button  (Read 1259 times)

I didn't think it was there before. I use the Steam version, but launch it using a .bat due to the fact Steam won't let me launch it twice and I want to host a dedicated server.

What does the Key button next to my name do? (main screen)

It's to change your authentication key.

Oh wow, so it shows the key button even though you're on a steam ID?

it doesn't show the key button, they just aren't launching the game with the '-steam' argument

Odd, because he's using a steam ID. It should normally either go into demo mode, or auth through steam (and not show the key button).

he's using a .bat to launch the .exe

people who don't have the game through steam have a string of characters they paste in to verify their account
steam automates this process

it doesn't just automate it, it actually entirely replaces it. Steam users don't have a key

I meant steam automates the authentication, I was just trying to explain it in a simple way

I figured it was for switching keys, but I was too afraid to press it in case it freaked out and I could never play again. Yeah, I only own it on steam and I use a .bat to launch it.

start "" "Blockland.exe" ptlaaxobimwroe

It still gives me the steam login thing though. I'm pretty sure.
I've only tried it with a LAN server, the reason I use a .bat is because I can't launch through steam with a dedicated server running. I host a dedicated server and play on it on the same machine with Steam, the dedi server just has -dedicated in the .bat as well.
