Author Topic: does space go on forever  (Read 6045 times)

space itself is forever expanding into itself

Plot twist: space is actually a mega hueg black hole and its Annoying Orange's starfish.

everything is infinite
even blockland??

actually that makes sense

No. No it doesn't.
There is little to nothing that is observably "infinite". Infinity in itself is a theory, and nothing that we know or have can demonstrate "infinity". It is incredibly difficult for people to contemplate the idea of "infinity". You can apply infinity to the belief of Afterlife, in which after death, you "live" infinitely. Can you imagine living forever in hell, or heaven, or infinitely reincarnating?

it does, yeah
but the area of space with stuff actually in it is finite

yeah like my richard
when its flacid
so it shrinks to 1 cm whenever erect? woah

I believe in God, and he is supposed to be infinitely powerful. That said, with him having creating the physical universe as we understand it, the limits of the universe are subject to him. If he wanted to, he could develop an infinite amount of "layers" of existence between him and whatever other layer of existence (like how heaven is on a higher plane than the physical universe).

I'm not trying to start a religious fight, but I'm just saying that if you believe in God, "infinity" is subject to him. It could also be said that he's the very personification of infinity.

Funfact: the formula for infinity is ∞=∞+1 or ∞=∞+∞
iirc tough

short answer kinda

long answer the universe is infinitely expanding so space is not infinite, but it grows larger and larger
which is why, since we will never develop technology to see the edge of it (or anything close), we cant comprehend how big it is and come to the conclusion that it is infinite

i wouldnt know for certain since i am not a professor or astronomer

watch as we one day leave space into other dimensions

this doesn't make any sense
Actually it does. You see, infinity is not a number, it's a concept. It's a concept of never-ending, bigger than any finite number.
This means that you can do almost anything to it. Some properties include:
∞ +- (Any finite number) = ∞
∞ - ∞ is undefined, ∞ + ∞ = ∞
∞ * (Any number or ∞) = ∞
∞ / (Any finite number) = ∞, ∞ / ∞ is undefined
(Any finite number) / ∞ = 0
(Any finite number) = ∞, ∞(Any finite positive non-zero number) = ∞
1/0 ≠ ∞

Space is expanding right now and its accelerating atm.
Untill the point that there isnt any more dark energy (dark energy isnt some edgy video game stuff. Its does something the opposite gravity does.), space will implode on itself, and another big bang will happen repeating everyhing. Something allong those lines.
This is one of the theories. There are about 3 of those that actually make sense but I think this is the best one

And if anyone ask whats on the "edge" of space its just dark space.

this happened in Futurama
