FTFY

Anyway, notorious means famous/popular in a bad way.

Boss battles and Randomizer are not notorious. no kill :) and Gray gum are notorious, however.

In other words, why do most people join bad servers, usually known ones, instead of going to a good one or trying something new?

im going to say then that people don't know to avoid those people and they dont look at the forums or they just bandwagon where all the players are without realizing they are bad hosts.

Most of the Blockland community doesn't use the forums. Word doesn't travel as fast outside of it, so most people don't really know unless they experience these servers firsthand.

As for ignoring other servers, there's a lot of factors: lots of people like certain genres and don't know the hosts (e.g. tezuni's prison escape), others might only want to join where they know the hosts on a personal level, and then there's spool-up

Shouldn't this go in drama?

Shouldn't this go in drama?

Why should it?

Unless it starts a flame war somehow, it must stay away from the hellfire Drama section.

Relax friend, you are out of bad times. There's the good times now.

People play things they like.

I'm not sure what this thread is. You are saying "How are bad servers getting players". Now, they may be bad in your  opinion, but its not for no reason that they have players. People have their own interests. You can't just say " Ivdobt like it, so this is a stuff server" because there is obviously a want for it. On the other hand, some people may say that Boss Battles and Randomizer are stuff. You are kind of contradicting yourself: "This server is stuff because it is popular, and I do not particularly like it!". I realize that some of the smaller servers aren't as popular, which I do agree with, but everybody has to start somewhere. The reason is that the more known server are.. Known, so players generally join these known servers. Basically, if you like coke soda, you are not going to switch to a smaller brand of soda, or even take note of a smaller brand. Now, in the same way that advertising works, if people get their server popular on the forums, and the " less popular server" gains some players, other players will follow.

In conclusion: your opinion is not universal to everybody and every server. The less populated servers do not get more popular, unless there is a small spark of other players.

Addition edit: you already gave two examples of servers that are popular and populated, so it is not completely true that players join "notorious" servers and ignore others.
