I used to use AAC and Apple Lossless formats too, but when I moved my music to Android and Musicbee I had alot of problems with the formats and had to move to FLAC/MP3. It doesn't help either that Apple has forgeted me over too many times, but that's just my problem with Apple.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I normally hate apply but I gotta admit, they make a damn good codec.
I've also used the open-source
Opus codec for music that used to be MP3-320 or less. I usually encode it at around 150kbps, which believe it or not gives an insanely high quality result for such a low bitrate. Opus really is something.
Oh, I use VLC media player on andriod. Has playlists, a nice material design, and can handle basically every audio type under the sun, including opus and aac without issue.
