Tarantulas are some of the most docile spiders out there. You'd have to piss one off to get it to bite you. You're more likely to have it throw its hairs at you.

I'd rather live in a place with tarantulas than your sneakier venomous spiders.

I've lived in Arizona my whole life and have only seen about 5 tarantulas. You can get right up to them and they'll just continue on with their little walk.
