Author Topic: Real Talk: What should the world do about terrorism (CIA, etc.)? [Organized OP]  (Read 44458 times)

I'm in support of the death penalty only for cases of premeditated murder, murder of children or defenseless people, torture leading to the death of the victim, terrorism, cannibalism, etc.

yeah but then you wouldn't get time to be a free man again later

But you also still wouldn't care. You're dead.

Aha. Love it when people don't do their research.

The cost of imprisonment would lower significantly if the death penalty was abolished. People on death row are living off of more tax dollars compared to life in prison.

Whether or not it's morally right or wrong, regardless of the crime, I don't give a stuff. Deciding issues like this based on personal moral opinions is stupid. We'd be better off without it.
But everyone in here is agreeing with you

I guess here's my opinion on the death penalty:

Should someone who killed another be killed? Or should they be left in jail for many years to rot and think about what they've done wrong? Honestly, the death penalty is very wrong considering it almost liberates criminals from the act they committed. I guess I wouldn't consider it an "adequate punishment"

I mean I understand that it should only be right that they lose their life after taking someone elses, but I just find that scenario letting the killer get off a little easy. The scum outta rot for years and think about what they've done

But everyone in here is agreeing with you
I'm directing that to the people who still believe contrary to the sources I've linked. It's a common myth.

technically they're still american citizens (unless for some odd reason they're not), and all american citizens have life as a natural right don't they?

i don't support the death penalty.

It's costing more money keeping these vicious psychopaths locked up whom most likely will never learn a damn thing because prison doesn't push for reform. Some people don't change anyways no matter how hard you try to reform them.

I would rather die than live in prison for the rest of my life.

Only if consented. Reason I say this is it is entirely possible to be wrongly found guilty and proven innocent years after your death.

For repeat offenders and large-scale offenders (murder 20 people as opposed to just 1-3, for example), if examining from a personal moral viewpoint.  From a purely practical standpoint, then yes, because we have the highest number of incarcerated per capita and perhaps it might slow down crime rates.

it might slow down crime rates.

No it doesn't.

The fear of being executed does not slow down people from committing crimes.

Thieves use to have their hand cut off as a warning. Guess what, it still didn't stop a 1 handed man from stealing.

Yes but only in situations where there is solid, tangible evidence that proves the person being charged with the death penalty has severely hurt or killed one or more people. Everyone should have the right to live but of they try to take that same right from anyone else, why should they get to keep it? They don't deserve it after that point, unless it were somehow accidental or it were a self defense situation, but even then, if that self defense is unnecessary, it should be considered depending on the situation.

if that self defense is unnecessary

In certain states you are not allowed to kill or hurt someone in self defense with a gun if your attacker has a knife.

That would be considered as unnecessary self defense.

well they clearly didn't cut enough hands off

Only if it's actually enforced, and not if the criminals are just kept in jail for the rest of their life rather than being executed

Yes

I saw in the news paper some forgeter who shot down 70 students on an island and did a Riddler greet in court wants a bigger cell

Well guess what, this forgeter has a 3 room cell with a TV n stuff. And that made me think, death penalties should be legal again
