Author Topic: Legality Of Giving A Key Away  (Read 2026 times)

Is it all good to hold a contest and give a Blockland key away? It wasn't purchased through Steam.

Badspot has before said that Blockland keys are non-transferrable. I believe it's okay as long as you purchase the key specifically for that person and use the recipient's email while paying so it's sent to them and not yourself.

by the way that op was typed, it sounds like they have already bought the key and so it would probably be in their own email

My little bro had a building contest a couple years ago for a blockland key

The winner was Georges, I think he still uses the key to this day

I purchased the key a while ago, so it's already tied to my email. It's not linked to a forum account though.

Plenty of people have held key giveaway contents. It's fine

Except, you know, when he specifically stated you're not allowed to do that.

Blockland keys are non-transferrable by nature.  The keys in question have been deactivated.  OP is a friend.

You can't directly give away a key but you can send blockland to them as a steam gift or send them the money to buy a key.

That was a bit different. The person who made that post had a history of bans, and was giving away those keys he had already bought and used (and were probably forum banned) after supposedly "quitting blockland". It was only just that those keys be deactivated...

I know old players (I want to say Bisjac) have held key giveaway contests just fine. There's quite a difference between that and a person who's been banned several times, making a quitting thread (against the rules) giving away his own personal key

For some reason it varies.
For example: Someone like Syvanor buys 3-digits IDs for cheap then resells them for a large amount of money, but probably doesn't use the key again after he sells it. But if someone is sharing a key with another person at the same time, history shows that key is likely to be revoked.

You should be fine as long as you don't use the key again after you give it away.

there was also that blid 10000 auction

but then again i don't think that counts

ravencroft seems right though

Best thing to do is pm badspot and ask

in the end I don't think badspot cares, it's not like he's gonna witchhunt keys that are activated on different ips or something.

it's a different time we live in
