I want to make a megathreads, and it's already pretty long. How long should megathreads be, and what are some key parts that I should include?

The OP has to be informative of the subject

Sometimes people label a topic as a megathread from the get-go, which is acceptable, but i've seen threads that were later edited to be megathreads after a few pages or so have been achieved

i hate it when someone declares something a megathread before it has a single comment. a thread is not 'mega' until it is a significant source of discussion on it's topic--usually around 100 pages or so

Think of it as making a project for school on that subject

See, now I thought the point of a megathread was to catch all of a bunch of subtopics in one single topic.
Like, instead of a topic for each Pokemon game, we have a Pokemon Megathread.
Instead of topics for each individuals drawings, we have a drawing megathread.

I didn't think they were 'mega' because they were big busy topics, but because they covered lots of little topics.
As a side effect of consolidating discussion on lots of things in one place the megathreads just so happen to get extra big.

So a megathread can be quite small so long as it covers multiple related things.
