How do you change the crosshair?

Basically what the title says

I tried editing the crosshair today and I did it all fine, just after saving it and replacing the crosshair in the blockland files, (Yes I made a backup) I went ingame and the crosshair never changed. So I went back into blockland's files and I found out that the crosshair went back to default.

Is there any way to change the crosshair while keeping it in the files and not have it change back to default?

Right click your modified crosshair in explorer, go to properties, and set it as read-only.
