They are over sensitive if:
The joke is about being fat because that is preventable
The joke is about slavery because that happened long enough that no one alive was affected by it

You are insensitive if:
The joke is about someone's grandmother who died last week because it was recent
The joke is tribal and being told to someone of that race who you hardly know

dark humor is totally okay but it's also totally ok to be offended by it. just know your audience. that said, if your audience is bigger there's no way of knowing who's gonna get pissed at you for saying one so don't say that stuff somewhere super public

i'm okay with all of it because none of it applies to me. i can't be offended by much because of my position and i don't really feel bad about that, so i will make jokes but i will also know when to stop if someone asks me to.
