Author Topic: Tributary II «7» — Day 3, Morning — Bah, no one seems to care.  (Read 11884 times)

Veho decides not to spend the day climbing a mountain. He moves further inland.
Veho heads south into the forest where he retrieves his crab and potato bounty and continues on his way.  In the distance, approximately 120' away, he sees a few dagu.

Olga realizes that those stupid loving birds are probably going to follow the smell of cooking meat. When she finishes her hat and the pork, she eats some of the meat and stores the rest. She enters her shelter with a few rocks, her axe, and her knife. First she begins improving the knife's point, and then she moves on to sharpening the axe. She then begins to rest, but her fears don't allow her to sleep. She periodically sits up and looks through the many crevices of her shelter to see if those damn birds are back... or, perhaps, something worse.

Adok recollects himself, finding that the boar has been slain.  He looks to the slayer, and adjusts his posture to a much more defensive stance.

Aesc brings himself over to grab a hold of the boar and pull it away from the swamp waters a bit. Who knows what's lurking in there? He looks over to Adok, staring with pursed lips before he moves to strike off a tusk of the boar and toss it over to him as a gesture of good will. Afterwards, he simply begins to pull the boar away to some more drier land so he can get ready to mutilate it. Got some good eats right there.

Adok, takes the tusk in hand, and nods to the man.  He eyes the tusk, and the follows the man.

Aesc, while dragging the pig, notices that a strange white-green dust covers its snout.

Aesc brings his right index finger over to drag along its snout. He carefully looks it over for a moment, before staring down at the pig. Adding it all up, he deduces this dust was what made it act to strangely. Afterwards, he goes to collect four similarly sized branches to create a spit, making a fire underneath it before he can go to work on the pig. He quietly looks over towards Adok, eyeing him as he follows him but not entirely paying much attention to him otherwise.

Btw, if I don't act, you guys are at liberty to finish your action.  Unless it's combat against another person.  I'll try to be better at describing conditions for you so you can make decisions in more detail.

The sky begins to change color as the sun moves lower in the sky.

Kamila chops down one more tree and chops it up into smaller pieces.  As she travels around, she searches for more berries and fills up her bowl with tegacha berries.  She also marks where pralil nuts can be found, as they seem to be a trustworthy source of food.  When she returns with her tree, she cuts off the limbs and sets them aside.  Particularly straight sections are cut and sharpened into spears, making four in total.

As she sees the sun sink lower, she sees it fit to gather as many leaves as she can to make a simple covering during the night, and to muck dissatisfaction, she is only able to find pine needles.  Regardless, it will have to do, and she gathers up a large pile of pine needles and shakes them out, removing bugs from it.  She sets this temporary bed mat aside.

After she finishes her bed, she becomes increasingly worried about the wolves.  She fears that it could be an omen, fearing that Znakzwilk will come for her.  She can't exactly imagine what she has done wrong, but nevertheless, she continues to work on what she can of her camp.  She also worries about the camp itself as she hears a howl in the distance.  She smells her hands and finds that they still smell of the fish she ate earlier.  She goes over to where the fish were buried and scoops some extra dirt over it with her feet.  She then goes down to the Ywazje and washes her hands off thoroughly, then heads back to the camp.

Kamila takes several limbs of the tree she just cut down and begins to line the sides of her house to make small temporary walls.  She gets the berries that she picked and lashes it to the ceiling of her hut so that creatures won't get to it.

Finally, she stacks more wood at the fire pit and falls asleep early.  It would be to her benefit to engage in hunting early in the morning.

As Aesc and Adok turn around, they notice the swamp has many fungal structures around it that are glowing green, and notice the dust on the bolgil's snout is glowing slightly green.

Everyone notices the dipping of the sun.

Aesc quietly glances up and to the sky as he notices the dark beginning to loom overhead. He quietly eyes the glowing fungi before glancing to Adok again and look back to the pig. Due to the nature of the animal, he defers from trying to spit roast it and instead goes to work skinning the large animal to retrieve its fur and hide, via breaking off the other tusk and sharpening it before using it as a knife. From there, he also goes to cook some bolgil steaks- enough for both him and his assumed guest Adok.

Within half an hour, the steaks are finished.

Olga hears the cry of a large feline resound throughout the mountains.

Accepted.

Kamila hears sounds of crunching leaves nearby and grabs her spears under the level of the hut's covering, as well as grabs the axe.  She stays low so as not to be seen.

Andrzej looks around for any signs of civilization, growing more desperate by the hour. After what seems like an eternity he finds a berry bush he recognizes from home, and begins harvesting them.

Kamila hears the footsteps stop and then hears the sound of berries being picked.  She moves as silently as she can, with spear in hand to move over to the side of the hut tree wall to peak through an opening and sees a man picking tegacha berries from a nearby bush.  The moon only slightly illuminates him through the trees, and the fire is not bright enough to shine light on him.  She does, however, try to get a glance of the fire to try to see if she can see which way the smoke is headed to see if he could smell the smoke of her fire.

Although her hear is racing due to the potential threat, she knows she may have the lower hand should she find the need to engage or the man engages her.  She tries to keep her breathing minimal since it can be seen in this temperature.

She isn't sure whether to confront the man or not, but nevertheless stands up and shouts over to Andrzej "H-hello.  W-who are you?"  Andrzej turns to see Kamila holding her axe and four spears at her side.  The axe is half at the ready, and the spears are not in a ready position.  Her stance is nevertheless, tense.

Andrzej turns to her and tries to speak, but the words come out slurred and unintelligible from a combination of dehydration and shock. "I was lost at sea, and I ended up here nearly a week ago. What is this place?" he manages after clearing his throat.

Kamila lowers her axe and spears slightly, seeing that the man seems to pose little to no threat.  Seeing that he is weakened and actually speaks her language lets her be at ease.

Se responds, "I have just recently settled here and earlier today started this settlement, called Ognisko*."  Seeing that he is teetering and his eyes are not focusing entirely, she remarks, "You look tired.  Would you like to come sit by the fire?"

*OgniskoPOL: meaning "hearth"
