Author Topic: Tributary II «7» — Day 3, Morning — Bah, no one seems to care.  (Read 12609 times)

Veho returns to the coast and starts a fire using some dry sticks and cooks a crab.

Veho hides the remaining food in a hole covered with leaves and grass. He makes a makeshift tent from some large sticks and leaves and goes to sleep.

Sorry about the delay, I've been fairly busy for my spring break.

Adok stares at the array of glowing fungi in amazement.  He constantly looks between the fungi and Aesc.

Earlier, drowsiness had gotten the better of Olga despite her intentions to stay awake til nightfall. One can only sleep for so long, though, as Olga proves by waking up come night fall. She eats more of the roasted pork and sets the last uncooked 8 lbs to dry on the bonfire, after she rekindles and refuels it. She sets out to cut herself 3 new logspears and more supplies for construction of her shelter and more firewood for, well, her bonfire. She collects all the branches of leaves and pine needles that she can from chopping down trees.

Olga hears rustling in the grass uphill of her.  Upon turning around, she sees a pair of glowing eyes staring back at her.

«Olga has discovered the NangolΨ

Olga gradually starts to raise her voice. Initially a hum, subsequently a shout and conclusively a roar, she raises a spearlog and her axe, both in positions to counter the Nangol if it charges. She begins to approach it, her log ready to strike the nangol if it jumps or sprints, while her axe is wound back with a license to kill.

Why'd you let Plethora design the poll?

The nangol begins to growl threateningly and circles around with caution.  It remains growling, and maintains eye contact.

Lol.  And accepted.  Let me know where you would like to start.

Olga matches the nangol's movement with her own, circling at the same speed as the cat. She awaits the perfect moment to throw her spearlog, and plans to throw it the moment such an opening appears. She also attempts to overpower the nangol vocally by simply yelling her head off.

The nangol lets out a scream.  Another nangol scream can be heard in the distance of about 500 meters from behind Olga, slightly to the left.  The nangol in front, while Olga takes a quick look, lunges forward, hisses and steps back while failing to swat Olga.

As Andrzej sits down by the fire, Kamila fetches the bowl of tegacha berries and hands it to him.  "Eat", she says, "You'll feel better after eating this."

Andrzej takes the bowl and tries a few of the berries. "Thank you. How long have you been here?" he asks, not knowing what to make of this new land. "Is there anyone else here?"

"I haven't seen anyone else.  You're the first person I've seen here.  I've been here for about a day."  She pauses, "I'm sorry, my name is Kamila—Kamila Bogdana", she says outstretching her hand.

Aesc quietly finishes cooking the first few steaks of the bolgil, and sets them aside for Adok as he moves on to cooking some more for himself- his stomach grumbling quietly. He bundles up and sets the Bolgil hide to his side, quietly glancing out to the glowing fungi once more before he speaks in Anglo-Saxon, "Eat it, if you know my tongue." he says, gesturing to the steaks before he begins to quietly measure out the hide he retrieved from the bolgil.

As the feline scrambles back in recovery from its swipe, Olga returns the favor by throwing her spearlog and charging after it with her axe in both hands, ready to hack at whatever the cat throws back.

The spearlog missed the nangol, but because the cat had to duck to evade, attacking with the axe is proven successful, as a solid smack to the head kills it.  However, the nangol that Olga heard from earlier comes running from behind and lunges, landing an attack by swiping at Olga's left calf from behind, causing mid-depth cuts.  The nangol retreats back before Olga can get a hit in, as she is disoriented by the sudden attack.

Adok and Aesc hear the howl of a makon a few miles away.  A single answer is heard from a different direction, but closer.

After Andrzej falls asleep once, although she herself is very tired, she nudges him awake, and brings him to the hut, telling him that he needs to keep warm under the needles.  Kamila keeps watch during the night, leaving Andrzej with two of her four spears.

Kamila walks down to the Ywazje, taking the bowl with her.  Upon reaching the stream, a few dagu scamper away.  Kamila washes out the bowl and uses it to drink her fill.  Next, she fills the bowl up again and walks back to Ognisko, bringing Andrzey the bowl of water.  Seeing that he fell asleep again, she wakes him and hands him the water.

Adok takes the meat, and nods to the man.  He began to eat, nodding satisfactorily.
