Author Topic: can I somehow download a game on steam with no internet  (Read 875 times)

well technically, yeah, I don't have internet because my dad disabled it. But I found a glitch if you have steam start up before the computer can fully wake up, it can be "half online". This means I can play games and connect to the Internet on games, but going anywhere else on the internet is disabled. I already have non steam blockland installed.

Your internet isn't disabled if you can play on the Internet... EDIT: Your dad could have blocked stuff on your network, but if you can play with other people you are connected.

are you sure your internet is disabled or are you imagining things

Also according to the title, you're metaphorically asking us to cross a bridge to get some groceries, but there's no bridge

Your internet isn't disabled if you can play on the Internet...
I don't know how else to explain it, I can play multiplayer games ON STEAM

steam is on your computer so you're connecting to the internet.

EDIT: I see the confusion. You're saying your dad disabled it. Can you elaborate?

steam is on your computer so you're connecting to the internet.
ok here's what happens

•i enable steam to startup when the computer starts up
•when I startup, the steam seems to be able to be faster then the detection
•im only connected to the internet in multiplayer games on steam

Did you try it yet? Sounds like if steam can bypass whatever is blocking the internet I would think it might just already work...

how are you posting if your internet is disabled

is steam blocked in the firewall or some stuff

DNS is blocked but not IP's.

I'm not sure you quite understand how the internet works
Or at least, I have no idea what you're saying

If there is no internet, then there is no line from your computer to anything online. There is no "detection" for Steam to boot faster than. Can you go on websites? If you can, then you have internet. If you can play games multiplayer, then you have internet.

What your dad might have disabled is certain different sites or places that you would use the internet on, in which case, it's just a glitch that you can get past it in the first place. Have you tried downloading a game? That would probably answer your question, lol

This used to happen to me a few times. I can play multiplayer and chat on steam and skype, but cannot go to the steam store or on the web browser. its a DNS issue that is solved by a router restart, at least with me.

how are you talking to us

your dad's probably using opendns or something
