Author Topic: MacBook (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2006) gets stuck on Wallpaper when trying to update  (Read 1116 times)

On the old Macbook I will get, the Video card was upgraded (not sure which video card yet) and the RAM was upgraded to the max, 2 Gigs. Could it be possible to upgrade it to the latest version at all?

I need some Apple people here..

I wouldn't count on it. but if you're getting it either way, it doesn't really matter

no, I think the latest you can go with 2006 macs is 10.7 but it won't run too well

I thought it was 10.6, hm. I'll just leave the OS how it it, unless there is an update for it, of course.

I'll leave this thread open in case someone wants to add something.

well my phone is from 2010 and cant update past 7.1.2

yeah, it's probably best to stay at 10.6 unless you want to play steam games or something, and even then 10.7 is still relatively outdated

what are you gonna use the macbook for?

No you can't. Do you have an option to get literally anything besides a macbook? Because if you can, I'd suggest it. Almost anything for the same price will perform much better.

This.

Im using a MacBook Pro from 2011, It was $1200 and it can just about run web browsers. It can barely run flash games. You can spend about the same on a Lenovo Y50 and get way better preformance.

Apple tablets and phones are good, but their computers are meh imo.

Well, good thing this was a free take from a friend of my dad's.
No one in my family would pay for a Mac, at all. So this is my only opportunity for a free take of a MacBook.

For some weird odd reason, I just love Mac OS, and wanted one for myself, so here I am.

Oh! Also my dad needs a Macintosh to develop stuff for iOS, so he's basically one step closer to getting to be an iOS app developer, with Unity helping. (Although who know's if it will handle Unity, lol, oh boy.)

don't you still need a more recent version of OS X to develop for iOS anyways

Probably not, I doubt the IDE software requires such a new OSx version.

A macbook from 2006 runs less than a hundred dollars. Why is your dad getting a stuffbox as a development machine?

I never said it was his, I just said he would need one and maybe he would actually just be able to use it for iOS development.

Also, this thing is for FREE, not for 100 dollars.
