Author Topic: Port forwarding help.  (Read 1517 times)

Well I already did forward my ports like it said in the tutorial, as so:

However, whenever I try to make a server, it still shows dead, but that's probably because I haven't changed the TCP/IP thing yet. The only problem is, everytime I try to change that, the internet on this computer doesn't end up working. Can anyone tell me what stuff to put into the TCP/IP thing? I'm kind of confused by the tutorial.

Here's my IP and stuff:

I especially don't get what to put in the DNS thing, because the only thing it shows as a DNS for me is the 192.168.1.1 thing, which I'm pretty sure isn't a real DNS.

That's not my real external IP though.

you need to have the ip dns and the router ip for hacking and use your statid ip
which is 192.168.1.102
dont use 192.168.1.45
that is how i forwarded my ports and you can visit my server every day now from 5-9 at usual

Oh, ok. I was just trying to do as the tutorial thing did. I'll try that in a sec.

Well I changed my stuff to this:

And my internet still works.

And I did what you said, but it still doesn't work. D= (at least not when I try to join my own server, I dunno if that's the problem.)

you dont have to mess with that menu just with the router

You need to either set your computer to use 192.168.1.45 or set your router to forward to your machine's current internal ip which is 192.168.1.102

Currently you're using 102 and forwarding to 45.

Okay, yeah, I definitely found a problem. I completely forgot about my Linksys Wi-Fi router, which is in front of my earthlink router (in other words, my laptop is wirelessly connected to my linksys router, my linksys router is connected to my earthlink router, and my earthlink router is connected to the wall jack). So I did this on the linksys one:

And my new question is, what should I do to the earthlink router?

Your network setup sounds like a bitch. What you need to do is find out the IP of the Wi-Fi router, which is assigned by the earthlink router i assume, then forward requests from port 28000 to 28032 to the Wi-Fi router which will then in turn forward them to your computer.

Before you do that, though: try pinging your earthlink router (if you know the IP of it) and see if you get a response - if you do we can forget the wi-fi router and forward from the earthlink I think.

Meh. Spend about three hours trying to get an old WI-Fi router to work, only to realize my 2wire was not only for the interwebs through the phone line but also for Wi-Fi.
