Author Topic: What job should I aim for?  (Read 1673 times)

This is my last week of my second term of college. Next term will be my absolute last, and I'll only have 1 class remaining, which means I'll have the entire week (except Thursdays) on which I can dedicate to earning some solid gold cash emone, and I need to start saving the moolah because I want to move to America in the next 5 - 10 years and also pay off my school loans here in Australia.

I'm not sure what I should actually do, though. My situation is this: I don't feel ready for a programming job (I'm the best at my college but everybody programmer on this board could whoop my arse), and there's no going design or writing jobs. I've got about ~7 games to show, but they all look (and play) like stuff without me going back and polishing them up for showcase. The only thing I've got going is PR work with Ubisoft and HP (and some special event stuff with my college if that counts), but PR jobs are contract work and they're rare. The HP job involved playing Salesperson, but I doubt the stats are impressive (I had the most sales with '4' over the week).

Right now, I think I'd prefer higher-paid work than work that would go towards games experience (since I can do that in my free-time and sell games without the "you can't release your own games" NDA contract biting my arse).

What job titles should I be looking for, BLF? And no, I'm not getting a job as a prostitute Legoboss.

dont overthink about it, aim for the best, who knows you might get it. Ubisoft looks good on your CV despite what you did there. get some experience, internship or not. and do what you WANT to do. you might not feel ready for a programing job, but do take into account that this would be your FIRST programing job, youre not going to get the stuff people with years of experience get.

Avoid office zombie. You'll ruin your life.
