Author Topic: What is it called when snow falls but it instantly melts when it hits the ground  (Read 2820 times)

I dont know if there is a name for it but anyone living in the midwest has had the honor of seeing it in action. It's basically constantly flurrying for the past 3-4 days, and whenever it touches the ground it instantly melts so it's like magic snow that never sticks. it's weird.

discuss the name for this and general weather etc

It's called the air is cold enough that snow forms but the ground is too warm for the snow to stay on it

Snow that isn't settling.

Scientifically, it's literally just melting.

we called it a slurry

it puts the "no" in "snow"

Dude it's like 50 and REALLY windy here for the past few days.
