In my state it is not as difficult as it used to be. Besides demonstration of your basic driving skills you must: parallel park(it was a complete disaster and some guys watching me laughed at me), you must show you can park up-hill as well as if one were to leave the car completely unattended. You must demonstrate your ability to back-up around a corner and drive on the freeway.
Even before all this, I drove by myself with only my permit as I had become so confident in my ability to drive.
To answer your question, no, it could be much more difficult than it was for me. Your state most likely has different laws.
I think once you drive more it may feel more liberating than it does right now. Once people hear they'll start askin' ya to do errands or hang out or whatever - given that your car is as free as you or whatever. Nonetheless congrats hope you drive safe!

Need not worry, all of us delve into different stages at different times. I was once terrified to drive, I was also very dangerous behind the wheel. I drove worse than an intoxicated six-year-old.
"OH GOD!" As he swerved his wheel, the brakes had iced dued to the foggy and rainy conditions that had appeared. As he began pulling, a sudden clash could be heard between the metal and concrete. The passengers feared for their lives and headed into panic. It was all over. As he laid his final breath, he had met a fate. A fate that would cost his life and 4 more people. It was a horrible pain and suffering. It was over.
