Laptop is getting slow, is there a way to get it faster again?

On purchase this machine was amazing and probably the fastest PC I had for now. Now that I have another, faster PC I dont use this very often anymore. Only when I go to my father or if I'm out of the house.
So after a while I booted it up and jesus, its so slow. Going full screen alone lags my computer for a second or two. It used to run very smoothly, no trouble at all.
So yeah, what do.

there is literqlly nothing installed besides my adobe software, some other software I use allot
And the amount of games on this PC are countable on one hand.

I dont have an anti virus because the one I use is my common sense. And suprisingly enough I have never gotten a virus even with my small amount of common sense.
But sure, recommend me some free ones.

yeah, this was my policy too, until i ran a full scan last year and found like 6 loving trojans, ran one last night for the first time since then and found one malware file too

I've heard good things about Malwarebytes, but you should listen to someone else. I don't know off the top of my head which antivirus programs are good and which just slow your computer further.

could just be getting old. my laptop got old and after reinstalling and cleaning and EVERYTHING it was still slow, so i just got a new one

Yeah windows firewall is absolute garbage but when I try to disable it it gives me acces denied bs
And honestly I couldnt care less.

Anyways I scanned my system with malwarebytes and it found 3 theats. It still does feels slow tough
