Author Topic: My car died and won't run. What do?  (Read 3004 times)

Scrap/sell it and buy a junker on Craigslist for $5k. At least you'll have something that you know will run.

I have like 10 cars on craigslist saved right now that I'm contacting owners about.

My top prospects are a 2003 Crown Victoria, a 2002 Eclipse Spyder, a 2006 Pontiac G6, 2001 Grand Prix, 2001 Mercury Sable, 2005 Impala, 2001 Cadillac Eldorado, and a 2001 Sebring.

Out of those, the Crown Vic, Eclipse, and Eldorado are my top priorities.

Wait is it leaking coolant?

Check the overflow tank and see if you have coolant. When the vehicle is cooled check the radiator too. Might be a broken water pump causing it to leak coolant which is causing it to overheat

It's not leaking coolant. I'm pretty convinced it's a fuel problem or an intake problem. I get a light all the time because the fuel is too rich in Bank 1 (not enough oxygen). I also get a flashing light when driving really hard or really fast because of the fourth cylinder misfiring, which may be directly related to the fuel in the fact that it's not able to spark very well in that cylinder. Pretty sure I'm gonna have to do something about the fuel injector on that cylinder but I don't think it's gonna be a cure-all.

a 2006 Pontiac G6
My grandma has one of those. I think it's a 2007 though. She hates it, but I think it's a decent car.

It seems that 50% of people around my age have a Cobalt/G5 or a G6. I'd very much like a G8 though but they have a cult following and are much more expensive. The G8 GXP has a Corvette engine.
