Author Topic: I am destined to be a wanderer  (Read 1947 times)

Or maybe it's just a phase I'm going through.

Recently, I've been in a pretty gloomy state and I've basically taken up wandering as a hobby to entertain myself. I get bored and before I know it, I'm over 100 miles from home with no particular goals or reasons to have traveled so far. Last week, I ended up traveling across the Missouri border into Illinois and just sat in a parking lot for a while listening to music. On Wednesday, I ended up near the Kentucky border and just drove around by the Mississippi riverfront before work. I left my "home area" at 11:00am, traveled 120 miles, loafed around, traveled 120 miles back to my "home area", and was at work for my shift at 2:00 (took some pretty darn high speed 90mph cruising). Over the past week, I've covered more than 700 miles and used almost two entire tanks of gas.

This isn't really the best idea considering my car's integrity, but traveling further and further from home is becoming almost an obsession for me. Not sure if it's a normal thing that any of the older people here have gone through.

ive had these fantasies which basically just mirrors forest gump where i am just desperate to walk a thousand miles to get somewhere and id meet people and i guess my story would get passed on

id so love to do it but ofc i would like need money to buy food and stay at places

come back to missouri so we can hang

My brother would steal my soon-to-be car all the time and do that
But he was 15-17

play it again

GUITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAR

they say XR-7 still wanders to this day, longing for a purpose...

I think it's that you have a knack for exploration. In an urban country, where the majority of things have been discovered, it's often difficult to satisfy exploration desires. At least it is for me. If I wasn't such a cheap bastard, I would be doing the same thing as OP.

you'd enjoy all the places to explore here
i definitely do

Oh, the places you'll go!

I GOT HEARTACHES BY THE NUMBER

I've been fascinated by Aokigahara for a while now (Before the horror film came out about it). I'd love to visit it and explore the caves and such. While I wouldn't intentionally be looking for corpses, the lore behind the forest fascinates me.

every year actually they do a corpse hunt to find the bodies of those who have committed Self Delete there

At this point, I can't do that just because of my car. My parents basically freaked out when they heard I ended up in Illinois about 50 miles away due to my car's constant issues, but they weren't gonna tell me no because I'm almost 20 years old. They don't know about me ending up near Kentucky though. They'd probably try to steal my keys if they found out about that.

For comparison of how far I went, refer to this image:

I live near St. Louis, and I was in Cape Girardeau. It was only a 2.5 hour round trip for me but I was speeding the entire time. Highway signs north of Cape said that STL was 113 miles away.

I'm in my house near St. Louis right now. Where you at?

I've basically starved the exploration out of my entire county. There really isn't anything or anywhere new to go here now, and it's basically just widespread hilly redneck highway country out here.
