Author Topic: In the market for a new console-- PS4 or Xbox One?  (Read 1302 times)

Hey guys,

It's the age-old debate: which console's better? I've gotten a nice bonus of $2k and I'm looking at buying a console. Currently, three of my friends have an Xbox One and are pushing for my money to go to that, but my brother and other close friend are telling me to get a Playstation. I've already got one PS4 in the house (my brother's), but because I'm moving out soon, I'll be taking whatever console I get with me so I wouldn't mind having two of the same console in the house. We've already got two Xbox 360s anyway.

I also don't need to purchase any new PC upgrades-- I'm already running a GTX 970 and an i5-6600k with 16 GB of RAM. I splurged my last bonus on this machine anyway.

So guys, shill me your favorite console. I like both of them equally, and I'd prefer not to purchase both of them-- so which one should I get?

If you have friends with Xbox One, that's always a bonus.
I think Xbox One's are also going cheap at the moment in different packages too.

Also, backwards compatability with an ever-expanding catalogue of 360 games.
And, if you get Xbox Live, you get 4 free games every month, and special deals on games.

The online service is always pretty good too.
And Xbox have never lost all their customers details before.

Honestly I have no idea
If only playstation's online was still free

I was gonna say PS4 but you've brought up some good points.

thanks for the information

doesn't the PS4 also have a free games kind of thing for their playstation plus service? but yeah, i've noticed Xboxes are cheaper right now

The PS4 usually has games running at a higher resolution and framerate than the Xbox One. It also has more exclusives and better ones imo. So the PS4 is probably your best bet.

please don't call the games that come with the subscription service free as that's just a blatant lie

I think that's a loss for Playstation that Playstation Plus is no longer free.

Prices are the same for Xbox Live however.
You don't require Xbox Live however to use Twitch, Netflix, Skype or YouTube. For Netflix you just need a Netflix subscription.

Xbox also has Xbox Rewards, where you earn credits whenever you spend, as well as for purchasing specific items in special deals, earning gamerscore, referring friends to make purchases, completing surveys, etc.
Xbox Rewards Credits can be converted into money in your account. And you can also earn money back on your monthly purchases (if you spend a lot in the store each month, then you can earn a % back on purchases made the following month, up to 10% for Gold Members. Effectively, you get a 10% discount on all purchases, which is good if you buy/rent a lot of movies).

Rewards is a bit of a "spend money to earn money" sort of deal, where you will be spending more than you get back, but it's a small saving. I notice every now and then that my microsoft wallet has a few extra quid in it that I've earnt, which is nice.

The PS4 also has a free games system too. They give 2 PS4 games a month, for 24 in a year.

Xbox however gives you 4 free games. 2 Xbox One games, and 2 backwards compatable Xbox 360 games each month, for a total of 48 a year.
And, by the nature of the Xbox 360 games being older, they tend to be bigger games. Halo 3 has been a reward, for example.
Whereas the Xbox One/PS4 games, being new games, but never brand new games, tend to be ceaper Indie titles.

They're given out at no extra cost. The price of Xbox Live subscriptions used to be the same, prior to them giving away games.
Therefore the games are free.

save your money and either get a gaming computer or upgrade your parts if you already have one, don't buy into the console meme

ps4 has literally no notable exclusives besides bloodborne and they're already jewing ps4 owners with ANOTHER version of the ps4 coming out which is supposedly much better than the current ps4, and most of the other exclusives are weeb stuff that you can also get on steam (or vita if you actually bought one) so unless if you're into that it's a waste of money that's already being replaced.

xbox one is a loving joke and microsoft knows that so they're beginning to put their games on pc (however the ports are stuff and they force you to get it through windows store on WINDOWS 10) which means that sooner or later we'll see more xbox exclusives on pc in a hopefully playable format that doesnt make people use botnet 10.

both dig into your pockets if you want to play multiplayer which is loving dumb

just save your money for something else, consoles this gen are a waste of money that will be gaining dust quickly, and for the love of god don't buy into vr either.

mmmm crap, or crap.

meh

edit;
those are not free games!!!! you have to subscribe to get them, and only have them while you are subscribed.
how are you people tricked so easily.
