taxes in many parts of the US are significantly lower than many parts of Europe. The cost of living here is also much lower in the majority of the country, save for the bigger tourist cities like NYC or LA.

In Sweden, you actually GET PAID when you recycle plastic/aluminum bottles and cans. Basically, there are small areas in stores that have recycling machines. You feed the machine the bottles and cans, then you get paid for it.

health insurance is pretty much required in the US unless you're rich out the ass or never ever ever need anything medical ever. it's just that it's normally provided through your employer or some other private means (unless you're super old or super poor). people just don't like the idea of public health insurance or the affordable care act for a lot of different reasons
