I'm fine with Subaru choosing Emilia over Rem. brother has commitment and conviction. What would it say about his character that he just kind of "settled" for Rem just because she admitted she loved him? And you also have to understand that he's a teenager, the kid appears in a completely alien new world, and the first person to show him any kind of friendliness and help was Emilia, a beautiful half-elf. Like, if that wouldn't send a teen's heart screaming, I don't know what would.
