Wear a spine, if not full body armor.

Or just go with a few friends who are actually interested in helping you and not just going so they can ski.
They were but they were stuff teachers.

Okay so I will definitely be investing in some more top of the line clothing then, and I'll definitely be wearing a helmet. (I've had so many close calls when skateboarding I'd never dare to board without one)

I know it sounds stupid but I used to RipStik all the time, and I had to learn to carve when going down really steep hills on that. Is that even remotely comparable? I definitely have the experience of balancing on a board from that and skateboarding already. I've already planned to at least do group lessons on my first day, and I've been watching videos non stop on proper technique, but I learn these sorts of things much better by just doing it myself and loving up a lot so I'll probably spend most of my time on the bunny hill my first day.

if you're going to like a public skiing/snowboarding place then keep in mind that those slopes are hard as a rock

Yeah after all you're brain damaged enough to hang around this forum full of god knows what/whoever for over 10 years. There's not much more that can be damaged in that noggin of yours.

What a coincidence.

I never wore a helmet when I skated unless I was at a park where it was mandatory, but snowboarding is different because you're much more prone to hitting your head when you fall.
