Author Topic: Kindle Fire is a stuff product  (Read 1586 times)

I've had this device since I was about 12. This thing is so loving stuff now.
First of all, when I plug any charger into the port, in order to charge the thing, I have to apply pressure to the charger chord. Same goes for the headphone jack, I have to constantly apply pressure to the chord to actually hear anything. Otherwise, it will play out of the device speaker AND the headphone speaker simultaneously.
It doesn't help that it has an old version of android on it, and that Amazon ONLY allows you to use their stuffty app store (No Google play!) that does not have a lot of apps on it.
In short, my kindle fire is a piece of stuff, and I would not recommend any device from Amazon.
Discuss.

I have an Amazon Fire Phone and its a load of ass. It's just a tiny kindle with a telephone function.

I used to have one, til a rental car guy stole it, rofl
it did kinda suck. but I liked it for reading. can you root these things?

I've had my fair share experience with the fire and I can say that it should be thrown in a fire

Agree, it is horrible unless if it is used for reading 24/7.

I tried to a while ago and the because of the new update for kindle, the old root won't work. I've tried to escape this hell

To no avail.

I also hate the auto correction
Every time I restart the device, it will turn auto correction on.
Here, I'll try to write "this is an example just a little sample":
They is ask example jusT a little sample

There's a reason Amazon decided to dump them at an extreme loss just to get rid of them lol

To no avail.

i contacted amazon support one time and asked them to downgrade my kindle fire to a exploitable version "because it broke the display" (it did though)

they said yes, downgrade, get exploit from xda devs, done
was nice

wait the 2011 kindle fire is still being updated?

Hmm. I enjoyed my dads Kindle Fire HD.
It was powerful enough for a few apps, and just decent enough for films.
And it was good for reading.

I get that it tried to reach out a little further than necessary, but I don't think you can really approach any Kindle as being equivalent to a general purpose tablet, like an iPad.
They're much better as an e-book reader.

actually it's just a version-locked android with a closed-loop appstore(or it was, anyway. Idk about now). My dad was unfortunate enough to put faith in Amazon when they first released it and bought one to get screwed over.

Isn't the normal kindle fire like 5 years old now? The HD ones are much better.
Also it was meant to be a book reader mainly, it's your fault if you buy the kindle fire just for the apps.

I didn't know this when I bought it.

this should help depending on which one you have. i followed the last one, managed to get safestrap and install cyanogenmod on it. check the other forum pages for the ROMs if you care about installing em. better than fireOS if you can get it working, anyways
