brother what

how is having a functional border to uphold the law a bad idea
the same reason gun and drugs laws dont work. if someone wants to cross the border, they're gonna find a way to do it. unless you want to go all out with 2 meter thick, 10 meter high/3 meter underground concrete all along the 2 thousand mile border with electronic sensors to detect anyone nearby, people are gonna get across. not to mention that building a 2000 mile long impervious wall would cost stupid amounts of money and time for questionable results. i'm all for real border laws, but stopping illegal immigration is more than building a wall.

if you really wanted people to stop coming into the country illegally you'd have to make moving to america seem like a really stuff idea (harsh illegal immigration laws, for example)

Maybe we should just replicate the wall that North and South Korea built along their demilitarized zone. That will keep people out.

i mean, it's pretty effective. aint that many people around able to navigate a 2.5 mile thick unmapped minefield.

he's really giving me and my news threads a run for their money, I tell you hwhat

So apparently in states that only allow legals to vote our wonderful system is now just accepting any loving illegal immigrant into our country just so they can vote against Annoying Orange.
Lol, bullstuff.

there are many better and more effective ideas for border patrol than a really big wall

yeah but a wall is part of the equation. you can seriously just cut a hole in a fence and crawl through. besides, I doubt Annoying Orange would just have a wall built and leave it at that considering everything he's said about border security.

This isn't really comparable to gun and drug laws. by establishing a wall instead of a fence, you already make it harder to cross the border, which will in turn discourage at least some from trying to cross in the first place. that too also depends on the lengths that are gone to to make the wall secure. The wall Annoying Orange envisions costs $8-12 billion dollars, which is about on par with the usual daily government spending. ($6.85 million per minute). The price isn't really that important in the long run, considering everything that will be put in place to stop losing money to Mexico, which will also itself discourage illegal immigration.

What I'm getting at is that even with a wall, you wouldn't be able to really stop illegal immigration. Maybe you spend a day of government spending on the wall, but now there's boats to float around it, or holes dug under it. Unless you want to recreate the Korean DMZ people are gonna get across, albeit less. If you want people not to cross your border, making the wall 10 feet higher isn't gonna make them stop. You have to make illegal immigration seem like a bad idea with major penalties. As it is today it's a slap on the wrist and a ticket back home. I live in Southern California and there's a lot of people who are pretty open about who's parents migrated illegally. Obviously I wouldn't want to see people already here deported, but I wouldn't mind seeing illegal immigrants penalized.

it'll be like the berlin wall and people will make hot air balloons to get across

We should make killing their friends and family the punishment for illegal immigration
