Religions come and go throughout history. One empire rises and creates their own religion. Another empire crushes the previous empire and discards the previous religion with their own religion.

Even if god is real there is a good chance none of the current modern religions we have will get you into heaven. Especially Christianity because Christianity just steals stories from other religions and claims it as its own. For example christmas was a pagan holiday. Even if it no longer isn't considered a pagan holiday it's the absolute most greediest, disgusting, sleaziest holiday of the year and in no way represents good cheer towards all men and women.

If you celebrate christmas now good chance is that you'll go to hell. The holiday is tainted and if god were real he would see all believers to be corrupt.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's always good to be open to any possibility when science has not found proof for something or in this case the lack of something. At this point, thinking that god exists as well as thinking that god doesn't exist is just an assumption as neither have any backing as of yet.

You could also technically base your assumption on probability, as sometimes your assumption can be correct based on statistical plausibility. This may make someone lean towards the nonexistence of god. However, when we consider that we barely know anything outside of the realm of our solar system, and consider our recent findings in physics such as relativity, black holes and worm holes which bend time, we can see that the laws we have discovered that work here on earth are no longer applicable in these scenarios and makes what we know void.

With this in account, nobody knows what exists outside of this bubble we call the universe, so our earthly logic does not apply outside of the universe and therefore makes absolutely anything possible.

There is 0 proof god exists and we are still living in the age of "after christ" and all evidence of any god like figure or entity is non existent. Unless you count a piece of toast with the image of jesus christ.

Time to start categorizing our timeline as NC for "no christ." That's probably what they will do in the future when they start realizing all of this was just stories.

All the talk of god in the "BC" era we found out are just stories, we discarded each religion during the "BC" era and we laugh about them to this day. Who takes ancient Egyptian religion seriously these days?

What makes "AC" any different?
I'm not necessarily speaking about the Christian god.

You would be delighted to find out that there is an abbreviation for "before the common era" and "common era" which can be used by the non-religious.

We don't know the exact moment the universe came to be, so saying that it's 13.799±0.021 billion years (21 million years one way or the other!) would be confusing. The system we have now where we believe that it's 2016 is a good placeholder.

Science has provided more understanding of the universe than god.

If it weren't for science we would believe the loving rain coming from the sky is god's tears.

You're talking outside of our universe.

Inside of our universe it is apparent there is no god.

If god intervened with humanity for tiny insignificant things in the bible then why couldn't he intervene for the national socialist holocaust?

He can save like 3 people occasionally but not 6 million.

I'm not debating what is written in the Bible or the Abrahamic God and what they could have done for humanity, but rather that there is nothing to suggest that another entity has or has not created the universe.

If an entity created the universe they clearly don't give a stuff about us. God is a drunk dead beat dad that doesn't want to deal with children.

If he doesn't exist we can continue on with our lives.

If he does exist why should we have to listen to what he has to say? He hasn't been there for us since the dawn of time. He doesn't speak for me.

"until you're an adult, you don't get to have any beliefs"
no not really, I am probably going to become a Methodist when i leave the house.  Yeah he makes me and my brother go to church but we can both believe what we want to believe.

I would like to point something out that a lot of people seem to ignore when it comes to catholic religion and society today.  The catholic church teaches that we are all born with free will, meaning we are in full control of our choices.  This is easily abusable, thus people killing each other, the holocaust as lord tony pointed out.  According to the belief, we are to use our free will for good and help others.  God isn't a totalitarian and he didn't want to be in full control of our every action in our lives.

Please note, i am speaking from the catholic church's POV

Parents shouldn't push religious ideals on their children.

That's like a vegan pushing their veganism on pets.

Why does God have to be in control of our every lives?  That is a really bad mindset to have.  As Kurt Vonnegut wrote in his countless books, most notably "The Sirens of Titan" God is utterly indifferent and he doesn't really cre what we do here on earth.
Also, God was a human (Jesus) and he understands human and human emotions, that's why he accepts modern religions.  If you denounce God and his full existence, you are condemned.  This is because you don't believe in God and he doesn't believe in you.

Christmas was adopted when Jesus was born, and has basically become materialized.

Well, growing up, you go through many different phases in your life and you become confused.  Your parents are there to help guide you in that particular religion.  BUT, the children aren't mindless animals, they can think for themselves and just because their parents believe in something doesn't mean they have to

Since I was a child, I didn't care about god. Yeah my parents were religious but I was never one bit curious.

I don't care if god does or doesn't exist at this point.

At one point I was agnostic. Now I am Nihilistic.

Tell your parents you don't care about religion or god.

What's the worse they can do? If they force you to worship their god they are only just increasing your hate for god.

blah blah blah all of you people's pointless dithering is as annoying as it is boring

listen up op you have a couple of options, to stick it out, to tell them you don't want to go, or to weave an assortment of lies to not go. like pretending to be asleep or to pretend to be mega busy or to spend an hour on the toilet with diarrhea

I would just tell them you hate god.
