Author Topic: How fast do you type?  (Read 3406 times)

I took a bunch of random typing tests I found on the internet, and was getting around 65-66 words per minute and around 340 characters per minute.

How fast can you type?

http://typing-speed-test.aoeu.eu/

551 characters per minute / 110 words per minute. "Your score beats or equals 99.51% of all."

Wow. You're really fast.

Obligatory

34 wpm on my phone, apparently

see the problem with these kinds of tests is the fact that you have to replicate whats on the screen, which by the way makes no loving sense, its just random words

so you're first getting bottlenecked by reading speed and comprehension, and then you're getting bottlenecked by having to type what someone else says, and not your own thoughts

I don't think it actually has that much of an effect on me personally, actually. The average reading speed of people is much higher than their typing speeds, so I find personally that it's not really that which bottlenecks me, it's just how fast my fingers can hit the keys.

literally this
i keep loving up because my consciousness just goes full overdrive when im writing and i just write what makes sense, not loving "important was font stuff richard forget me i want to phone"

itt; forget this quiz

edit; then it gets loving worse
my keyboard is like over ten years old and it doesnt input like half the things so when im spelling something like "important" it lags and spells "mportant" and i dont even realize is cause' by finger hit the key and all this bullstuff

what im trying to say is basically this:

i keep loving up because my consciousness just goes full overdrive when im writing and i just write what makes sense

its really hard to write things that dont make grammatical sense to my brain

i spend more time trying to figure out what the forget the next word is and trying to figure out where the sentence is going than i do actually typing

i don't mean to be that guy but

that was an appropriate use of literally

There are tons of them out there where you're not typing random words just do a Google search for one that uses a story or something. Actually, here's one:

Is it better if does make grammatical sense? I totally get what you're saying. Wish someone would create a test where it gauges the speed of your typing by you typing whatever you want. Guess people could exploit it by doing something "a a a a a a a a a a a a a a  a a a a a a a  a a a a a a a"  but whatever.

that's probably my best result so far

You guys make me feel slow. Wow.

nevermind im just bad

Yeah, it does help to have a decent keyboard. I have a Razer Blackwidow with blue mechanical switches. I'd probably be noticeably slower on a regular keyboard.
